FEMA to open ‘Disaster Recovery Center’ in Kerrville following fatal Texas floods

Those eligible could received FEMA assistance for losses not covered by their insurance.

SAN ANTONIO — Officials announced that a designated disaster recovery center will open in Kerrville Thursday, following the devastating Texas floods that killed dozens of people, beginning on the Fourth of July.

FEMA along with the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and the U.S. Small Business Administration is scheduled to open a “Disaster Recovery Center” at the First Baptist Church in Kerrville (625 Washington Street).

Staff members from each entity will be providing face-to-face help for survivors affected by the floods. No appointment is needed.

Officials said homeowners, renters and eligible non-residents in Kerr County could received FEMA assistance for losses not covered by their insurance. Assistance applying for disaster relief will also be provided.

The representatives will also connect survivors with local, state and federal agencies including nonprofits and community groups to help with their recovery journey.

If you need accommodations to communicate with these representatives – like a sign language interpreter, you are urged to call 833-285-7448.
