
A Bexar County jail inmate has died following a fight with another inmate, both held on low-level charges.
BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office says an inmate the jail has died after a fight with a fellow inmate.
BCSO says the fight happened early Saturday morning at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center downtown.
Officials say the two inmates were both in custody on low-level charges when a fight broke out. The 38-year-old inmate allegedly assaulted a 59-year-old inmate. The 59-year-old inmate sustained head injuries and was taken to the hospital, but later died from those injuries.
The incident is being treated by a homicide and the younger inmate is expected to be charged with murder by the Texas Rangers.
BCSO says they are following the procedures for an inmate death outlined in the Sandra Bland Act.
This incident is still under investigation.
