Female teacher arrested for alleged sexual contact with student, SAPD says

A female school employee is behind bars after allegedly having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student. The arrest comes months after a 15-year-old student made an outcry against the staff member.

San Antonio Police arrested 27-year-old Priscilla Castro at 10:45 p.m. Friday, August 29, on charges of indecency with a child sexual contact, according to preliminary information.

SAPD’s Special Victims Unit launched an investigation in May after the student reported the incident to her mother, who then contacted authorities. According to SAPD, teacher and coach Castro allegedly had indecent sexual contact with a student during school hours at the 200 block of Stark Street. While the department has not confirmed the school, that address appears to match KIPP charter school campus.

Following the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Castro, and she was taken into custody without incident. No further details have been released; MYSA has requested additional information from officials.

This is not the first time a staff member at KIPP Academy has faced allegations of inappropriate conduct with a student. In 2017, a teacher at KIPP Aspire Academy was fired following reports of improper contact, raising previous concerns about student safety at the school, according to KSAT.

SAPD SVU detectives are urging any potential victims or individuals with information to come forward. Parents whose children may recognize the suspect and could be possible victims are encouraged to contact the SAPD SVU office at 210-207-2313.
