SAN ANTONIO — Get ready for wagging tails, colorful kites and a whole lot of puppy love.
Fest of Tails is making its highly anticipated return Saturday, March 14, 2026, at McAllister Park, bringing a full day of outdoor fun for families and their four-legged friends. The free festival runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. near the dog park and pump track at 13102 Jones Maltsberger Road.
Hosted by the San Antonio Parks Foundation, the annual event celebrates pets, parks and the promise of spring.
“Fest of Tails is one of our favorite events of the year,” said Mary Jane Verette, President and CEO. “The festival is a harbinger of spring renewal as we celebrate our love of pets, parks and the great outdoors. It’s a day full of fun, activity and connection.”
This year’s Pooch Parade and Costume Contest is going full St. Patrick’s Day sparkle. Pet parents are encouraged to dress their pups in festive green, lucky charms, leprechaun hats, rainbows or pots of gold. Early registration is now open, and participants can also sign up before 11 a.m. on event day. Organizers promise plenty of prizes and even more smiles.
Beyond the parade, the park will be filled with giant kite displays and kite flying, an artisan market featuring dog products, food trucks, carnival games and a plant and tree giveaway while supplies last. Visitors can also meet adoptable dogs on-site through partnerships with San Antonio Pets Alive and the SA Humane Society, meaning some families may head home with a brand-new best friend.
Attendees can also check out McAllister Park’s new outdoor fitness station, funded through bond money, offering a fun and active way to enjoy the park’s natural beauty.
Admission is free, and all ages and all breeds are welcome.
So grab the leash, dust off the green gear and head to McAllister Park for a day that promises blue skies, wagging tails and maybe even a little Irish luck.
