SAN ANTONIO — Less drivers who had been drinking took to the road during the Alamo City’s biggest party, according to new numbers and data provided by the San Antonio Police Department.
SAPD officials said that from April 16 to April 26, there were a total of 15 Fiesta-related arrests, which is one up from 2025’s 14 arrests. Fiesta kicked off Thursday, April 16 and officially wrapped up this Sunday. The San Antonio Spurs also headed to the playoffs the first weekend of Fiesta with many fans attending watch parties, events, and celebrating in downtown and across the city.
According to SAPD, there were 114 DWI arrests made during the Fiesta season but it’s not clear how many were specifically connected or tied to Fiesta. That number is down from the 141 DWI arrests made last year during the same time period.
Previously SAPD told KENS 5 that officers rely on “evidence that may indicate they were participating at Fiesta,” including where drivers were traveling to or from to determine what constitutes a Fiesta-related DWI apprehension but sometimes that information is not provided.
Heavy thunderstorms and continuous rain also cancelled several Fiesta events this year, but San Antonio police emphasized they still kept an eye on the roads during Fiesta.
