Organizers expect 7,000 people to attend one of the last Fiesta events of the year happening on the south side.
SAN ANTONIO — Sunday marks the final day of Fiesta but the party doesn’t stop until the Festival de Cascarones comes to a close.
President of Texas A&M University San Antonio, Salvador Hector Ochoa says the festival is a symbol of unity for the community.
“We want to have significant community impact,” Ochoa said. “It’s an excellent way where we provide some of the community and we feel they’re a part and we’re all one together.”
Tickets to the event cost $10 each. Proceeds go towards advancing student organizations. Something that Ochoa says is important especially for the south side of San Antonio.
“People are always looking forward to it,” he said. “There are not too many Fiesta events on the south side so this is really important.”
Dominique Sauceda and her husband with Hometeamhotdogs catering, have been vendors for this festival for eight years.
“We’re very thankful,” Sauceda said. “When I get different people in my line, you’ll be very surprised. You’ll have the little bitties, to the elderly we get to serve.”
No matter the age, everyone is ready to party!
