Fiesta favorite ‘A Night in Old San Antonio’ returns to downtown this week

San Antonio’s historic Fiesta event, A Night in Old San Antonio, returns this week at La Villita, featuring diverse foods, music, and arts.

SAN ANTONIO — One of the most popular Fiesta events is back in downtown San Antonio this week.

A Night in Old San Antonio runs Tuesday, April 29 to Friday, May 2, at La Villita Historic Arts District. The event includes 14 distinct cultural areas offering unique foods, live music over multiple stages and arts and crafts markets.

The festivities will be commemorated with the annual hanging of the Rain Rock Monday. The tradition dates back to the 1970s, organizers say, and involves hanging a rock with a hole in it on a fence. The same rock is used every year and it is said to ward off undesirable weather.

Musicians from the Mariachi Campanas de America will play during the hanging of the Rain Rock. The band will also play nightly during NIOSA at the Haymarket Area.

NIOSA is a big fundraiser for historical preservation in San Antonio. Proceeds go toward the Conservation Society of San Antonio.

The festival is open from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. each night. Tickets are $20 and will be available online, H-E-B, USAA and area Military Bases

NIOSA medals are also on sale right now. The larger piñata medal for $13 each; the 2025 beer cup medal for $5; and the Rain Rock medal for $10 each at:
