Fiesta Pooch Parade returns Saturday with paws, pageantry and plenty of tail-wagging

Costumed canines will strut through Alamo Heights for a good cause and a howling good time.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio, leash your expectations.

The Fiesta Pooch Parade is back April 25, bringing a pack of dressed-up pups, proud pet parents and enough wagging tails to create its own breeze.

The fur-tastic event runs from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 250 Viesca Street in Alamo Heights, where dogs will put their best paw forward in a parade, costume contest and morning full of treats, photos and barking rights.

Leading the charge will be this year’s royal top dog, King Anbarkio, who will guide the parade with all the dignity a crown and floppy ears can provide.

Pups can compete in categories like:

  • Best in Show
  • Most Creative
  • Best Fiesta Flair
  • Best Matched Human & Animal

Whether your dog is a diva, a goofball or just there for the snacks, every pup gets a chance to shine.

Food trucks will also be on site, because even good boys and girls need refueling breaks.

Best of all, the event benefits Therapy Animals of San Antonio, which supports therapy animal teams bringing comfort to hospitals, schools and community programs.

So grab the leash, fluff the fur and tell your dog they’re going to be famous.

Because on this day, every dog has its parade.
