SAN ANTONIO — San Antonians can spend a whole weekend appreciating independent films, music and talented artists this April at the Fiesta SATX Film & Music Festival.

The free event will be hosted by the Alamo Colleges District from Friday, April 17 through Sunday, April 19 at 2222 N. Alamo Street in the downtown area.

The third annual Fiesta SATX Film & Music Festival is expected to spotlight student and indie filmmakers, local musicians and community artists during a weekend of film screenings, performances, panels and exhibits. Submissions for the festival are still being accepted through March 27.

“The Fiesta SATX Film & Music Festival serves as a platform for independent filmmakers and musicians to share their work, connect with industry professionals, and help build a stronger film and media economy in San Antonio,” Rick Cuellar, festival organizer said in a press release.

According to the press release, the Fiesta SATX Film & Music Festival will kickoff with a “networking mixer” followed by the crowning of King and Queen and a night full of film screenings. The event will continue Saturday beginning at 10a.m. with live bands, art exhibitions, Q&A panels and even a karaoke competition. Events resume again on Sunday at 10 a.m., and later that evening at 7p.m. the festival will honor some of the filmmakers during an awards ceremony and is scheduled to end with a “winners mixer.”
