Fire at Fort Worth recycling plant injures one firefighter, officials say

A fire was reported on the property of Silver Creek Materials, a recycling and composting company, according to the Fort Worth Fire Department.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A fire sparked at a Fort Worth recycling facility Sunday injured one firefighter, the department said in a press release. 

Fort Worth firefighters responded to a blaze Sunday afternoon at Silver Creek Materials, located on Silver Creek Road near Lake Worth, the Fort Worth Fire Department confirmed.

Plumes of black smoke were visible for miles Sunday and one firefighter sustained minor injuries while fighting the blaze, the department said. 

Some recyclables reportedly caught fire before spreading to nearby tires, officials said in a statement.
