Fire breaks out in vacant building at downtown apartment complex, SAFD says

SAFD was called to the Soap Factory Apartments located at 500 North Santa Rosa for a structure fire around 8:25 p.m. Monday night.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio fire is responding to a fire for the second time in five days at the same downtown apartment complex.

SAFD was called to the Soap Factory Apartments located at 500 North Santa Rosa for a structure fire around 8:25 p.m. Monday night.

When they arrived, they found heavy fire on all three floors of a three-story vacant apartment building. Crews made an aggressive interior attack on the fire but had to pull some crews out due to “structural integrity issues.”

SAFD says this will be an extended event due to the amount of fire involvement.

On Thursday of last week, crews were called to the same apartment complex where they found significant fire on the second floor of a three-story vacant apartment building. Major fire damage was limited to only one apartment while no injuries were reported.

This is a developing situation and KENS 5 will continue to update this article as we learn more.
