Fire caused by barbecue pit on an apartment balcony leaves two displaced for the night

Two families seek new housing after a north-side apartment fire early Thursday.

SAN ANTONIO — Two families are now looking for a new place to stay after a fire at a north-side apartment complex Thursday morning.

The fire started around 12:40 a.m. at the Devonshire apartment on Braesview Avenue. 

Fire officials say someone was on the their balcony barbecuing when the fire got out of control. The damage was mostly confined to the balcony but other parts of the apartment were damaged by smoke and water. 

Two people in two apartments were displaced by the fire. No one was hurt in the fire.
