Fire contained at Tesla construction site in Royse City, officials say

A fire at a Tesla construction site in Royse City was contained by firefighters with no injuries reported.

ROYSE CITY, Texas — A fire broke out around noon Saturday at a Tesla construction site in Royse City, prompting a response from fire crews, according to the Royse City Fire Department.

Initial reports indicated a possible fire at an ONCOR power substation. Royse City FD said responding crews discovered the flames were coming from the Tesla construction site, which is still under development. The facility contains battery backup storage for the electrical grid, officials said.

According to officials, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control, and the flames were contained to the Tesla site. No injuries were reported, as no personnel were on-site at the time of the fire.

Representatives from both ONCOR and Tesla were present following the incident. The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
