Fire crews encountered tough task in empty structure overnight, officials say

SAN ANTONIO — Fire crews are investigating after a blaze began overnight at an empty downtown building, San Antonio Fire Department says.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Alamo and 6th Street around 1:20 a.m. Saturday.

Officials say when crews arrived smoke was seen coming from inside the building, but with doors and windows secured created a challenging situation for crews to get inside.

Once crews finally entered the flames were quickly extinguished, according to officials.
