SAN ANTONIO — It was March 19 in the middle of the afternoon when 77-year-old Mike Burrow woke up from a nap and found his cabin and other belongings on fire. He’s grateful to be alive, but in the path of destruction were his guitars and travel trailer.
“I lost literally everything that I own,” Mike Burrow said.
Mike’s son Dallas Burrow, says his father has no choice but to start life from scratch.
“He had just bought himself a truck,” Dallas said. “The truck also burned in the fire. And then all of his possessions, clothes, guitars, cowboy hats.”
Dallas says the fire spread to the travel trailer – the one his father was sleeping in.
“Fire marshal said that he believed it was probably old wiring in the cabin, so you know it was likely an electrical fire that started it,” Dallas said.
Mike Burrow who works as a teacher’s aid for students with disabilities for New Braunfels ISD says he’s lucky to be alive.
“The most important thing for me is that my dad is ok,” Dallas said.
