Fire heavily damages home on Fulton Street early Monday morning

An early morning fire destroyed most of a home’s roof on Fulton Street, causing severe damage but no injuries, according to officials.

SAN ANTONIO — A house was heavily damaged in an early morning fire northwest of downtown on Monday.

San Antonio firefighters were called to a home in the 1300 block of Fulton Street near I-10 around 3:38 a.m.

According to the SAFD Battalion Chief, crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames shooting through the roof. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control, but officials say about 80% of the roof was destroyed.

The home was not occupied at the time of the fire, but it was not considered vacant.

No injuries were reported.

San Antonio police say neighbors told officers the resident may currently be in the Bexar County Jail, though that information has not been independently confirmed.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and the damage is considered severe.

The investigation is ongoing.
