SAN ANTONIO — A vacant home was heavily damaged by a fire that officials say may have been started by homeless people trying to stay warm.

It happened off West Mayfield Boulevard near Commercial Avenue just before 10 p.m.

When firefighters got to the home, the house was fully engulfed in flames. Crews worked quickly to contain the fire, but the house was heavily damaged.

Police on the scene tell us the home was vacant, but they believe homeless people trying to stay warm may have sparked the flames.

No one was hurt in the fire.

Investigators are still trying to confirm exactly how the fire started.
