
An apartment resident told first responders that a candle may have started the blaze.
A firefighter was injured while working to extinguish an apartment fire near JBSA-Lackland that may have been started by a candle.
It happened around 3:30 a.m. Monday at the Villas on Springvale apartments in the 7600 block of US Highway 90 West.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from three second floor apartments. They were able to quickly extinguish the flames.
Police and firefighters evacuated the building.
Thankfully, no residents were injured, however one firefighter was taken to the hospital suffering from heat exhaustion.

No word on the amount of damages caused by the fire, however the fire chief said the top floor was destroyed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
