Officials say the fire began on the backside of the home near the kitchen, then quickly spread to the attic.
SAN ANTONIO — Firefighters battled an early morning blaze at a home that is said to be currently under renovation just east of downtown.
San Antonio firefighters responded to the 600 block of S. Hackberry Street near Nevada Street around 4 a.m. for reports of a fire.
When crews arrived, they were able to extinguish the fire quickly.
Officials say the fire began on the backside of the home near the kitchen, then quickly spread to the attic.
During their investigation, they realized the home was undergoing renovations. What they didn’t know was when the last time somebody was inside working.
They said neighbors knocked on the door of the house to see if anybody was inside, leading firefighters to believe that someone may have been trapped. However, nobody was inside.
No injuries to people or firefighters.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
