Firefighters quickly contain blaze at north-side home, SAFD says

SAFD said firefighters also protected three dogs that were in the backyard of the property.

SAN ANTONIO — Firefighters quickly knocked down a fire at a home on the city’s north side Friday night, preventing it from spreading and protecting several animals, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

SAFD said flames broke out around 9:43 p.m. at a residence in the 8300 block of White Oak Drive. Fire officials said the blaze appeared to have started in the back rear of the residence.

Crews were able to contain the flames soon after arriving and stopped the fire from extending further into the home, according to SAFD..

No injuries were reported. SAFD said firefighters also protected three dogs that were in the backyard of the property.

Damage to the property is estimated at about $10,000, according to officials. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
