Firefighters rescue multiple people after fire sparks in garage, SAPD says

SAN ANTONIO — Firefighters worked to end a house fire early Saturday morning as they evacuated multiple people from their homes in an east side neighborhood, according to San Antonio Police.

The incident occurred on Steve’s Avenue around 3 a.m. Saturday. 

Police say, officers were in an area for another call when they saw smoke. As they drove to the area found a home garage fully engulfed. 

The officers alerted the family inside the home and rescued four people, according to SAPD. Two neighboring homes were also evacuated.

KENS 5 crews on the scene captured down power lines sparking as crews battled the blaze. 

The cause is unknown and an investigation is ongoing.
