Fireworks to blame for fire that heavily damaged northwest-side home, SAFD says

A northwest-side home was severely damaged after a firework sparked a fast-moving house fire, though everyone inside escaped safely.

SAN ANTONIO — Firefighters are reminding the public about the dangers of fireworks after a house fire on the northwest-side was reportedly sparked by a single firework Wednesday night.

The fire broke out around 10:30 p.m. in the 9300 block of Autumn Sun, just south of Braun Road.

According to the San Antonio Fire Department, a firework struck the home and ignited a fire that spread rapidly. Due to the intensity and speed of the flames, firefighters remained outside the structure and focused on containing the fire to prevent it from spreading to nearby homes.

Everyone inside the house was able to escape safely. Officials confirmed there were no injuries to residents or firefighters.

While no one was hurt, the home sustained severe damage, leaving the family facing significant losses.

Fire officials are reminding residents that fireworks are illegal within San Antonio city limits. They urge people to leave celebrations to professionals, noting that even one misfired firework can lead to devastating consequences.

The fire remains under investigation, but officials confirmed fireworks were the cause. For now, the focus is on helping the affected family recover.
