
The Legacy Traditional School in Cibolo has confirmed with KENS 5 that there is a measles case in a first-grade classroom.
CIBOLO, Texas — The first measles case in the San Antonio area has been confirmed, with officials tracing it to a first-grade classroom at Legacy Traditional School in Cibolo.
A spokesperson with the charter school told KENS 5 it was taking “all the necessary precautions” following the measles detection. School officials are reportedly working with state and local health officials to monitor the situation and “ensure the wellbeing of the school community.”
In a statement, the school said it will remain open on Friday and conduct a “thorough sanitization of the campus” after school hours.
“Families who have been directly notified should continue to follow the guidance provided. We appreciate our community’s patience, trust, and cooperation as we navigate this situation,” the Legacy Traditional School – Cibolo said.
As of Friday, the Texas Department of State Health Services was reporting 124 cases of measles, mostly in the South Plains region of West Texas. Most of them involved unvaccinated children, although five people who are vaccinated have been among the cases, according to health officials.
