SAN ANTONIO — The first nonstop flight to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport departed from San Antonio on Monday, fulfilling a longtime priority of local lawmakers who wanted Military City to have a more direct path to the Capitol.
Many onboard Monday’s flight included legislators from the San Antonio area who championed the daily direct route. The flights will go to Reagan National and back without the inconvenience of stopping along the way; the airport is just over four miles from the White House.
The nonstop flight to DCA was commemorated during a ceremony at the San Antonio International Airport on Sunday.

This route has been 20 years in the making and finally made official in December, when the U.S. Department of Transportation approved flights in and out of Ronald Reagan National or DCA.
This route marks the 46th nonstop flight out of San Antonio for passengers to take.
