Fishing trip turns fatal after police find San Antonio teen underwater in San Marcos

When first responders arrived, they found the 17-year-old along the riverbank and began performing CPR before taking him to a hospital.

SAN MARCOS, Texas — A San Antonio teen was found underwater after an apparent accident took place while he was fishing in a current near Thompson Park in San Marcos, Texas. 

At around 12:15 p.m. on Saturday a witness reported to San Marcos police that 17-year-old Ross Anthony Webb was spotted underwater in a current near Thompson Island for about two minutes. Witnesses told authorities Webb was fishing when an incident occurred.

When first responders arrived, they found Webb along the riverbank and began to perform CPR on the scene. Webb was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

An autopsy report has been ordered by a Hays County judge. It’s unclear as of now how he ended up in the water.
