The Spurs will look to punch their ticket to the NBA Cup semifinals when they take on LeBron James and company.
SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs (16-7) will visit the Los Angeles Lakers (17-6) and look to advance in the 2025 NBA Cup Tournament.
GAME REWIND
Without Victor Wembanyama due to injury, the San Antonio Spurs beat the New Orleans Pelicans 135-132 on the road. Harrison Barnes led the team with 24 points. The Spurs saw their 25-point lead evaporate in the second half.
De’Aaron Fox had 14 points and seven assists, and Dylan Harper finished with 22 points, a new career high. Keldon Johnson scored 12, and Julian Champagnie had 17 and six rebounds. In his return to action, Stephon Castle added 18 points and five rebounds.
“They (Pelicans) were on track for 84 percent, and they finished 42 points in the paint, I believe, in the first half. So there were a lot of smoke signals that were warning us that the scoreboard wasn’t as real, that it said it was. And very disappointed in the way that we came out of the half,” said Mitch Johnson.
