The Silver & Black look to rebound from Sunday’s loss to the Timberwolves and get above .500.
SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs (13-13) will host the Atlanta Hawks (14-13) at Frost Bank Center as the team looks to get back above .500 on the season.
The teams’ first meeting this season could see the return of key players Keldon Johnson and Tre Jones to the court. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on CW and WOAI/KXTN radio.
GAME REWIND
The Spurs are coming off a 106-92 home loss to the Timberwolves.
Victor Wembanyama led the team with 20 points,12 rebounds, five assists and seven blocks. Harrison Barnes had 17 points and two assists, while Chris Paul contributed nine assists.
Jeremy Sochan added 17 points, Devin Vassell recorded four points, and Julian Champagnie finished with 11 points and six rebounds.
San Antonio was without Keldon Johnson, Zach Collins and Tre Jones, who were all out with injuries. Assistant coach Mitch Johnson also continues to be acting head coach while Gregg Popovich recovers from a November stroke; the Hall of Fame coach said in a statement Monday that he was eager to return to the sidelines, but a timetable hasn’t been determined.
“I think it was a mix of lack of discipline and execution,” Wembanyama said about Sunday’s loss. “We let ourselves be impacted too much by them. (It was) a mix of things, probably. They definitely switched the coverage from last time. I think they were making everything hard for us, like little details, and we weren’t paying enough attention to them.”
THE UNIFORMS
The Spurs will be in their City Edition jerseys on Thursday.
