The San Antonio Spurs, riding an eight-game regular-season winning streak, are preparing to face the Utah Jazz at home.
SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Spurs (23-7) will look to stay hot when they host the Utah Jazz (11-19) Saturday evening at the Frost Bank Center.
The Spurs are on an eight-game winning streak and have become the talk of the NBA this week after beating the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder three times in less than two weeks, including a double-digit win on Christmas Day.
GAME REWIND
The Spurs beat the Thunder 117-102 on the road Thursday to go 3-0 in the teams’ regular-season series. De’Aaron Fox led the team with 29 points to power the team to another victory.
Luke Kornet had six points and four rebounds. Dylan Harper scored 12, Victor Wembanyama recorded 19 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Harrison Barnes added 15 points. Stephon Castle had 19 points and seven assists. Devin Vassell added five. Keldon Johnson recorded nine points.
“This is like a playoff series. We played them (Thunder) three times in 10 days,” Wembanyama said after the game.”So we learned a lot on the tactical side, but I think I don’t want to say too much, but I want to keep some for us, but we definitely got some intelligence.”
INJURY REPORT
As of 12:30 p.m., De’Aaron Fox – the Spurs’ leading scorer against Oklahoma City on Christmas – has been ruled out with left adductor tightness. The starting point guard missed the first eight games of the season with injury, but has hit the hardwood in every Spurs matchup since Nov. 8. Either high-performing rookie Dylan Harper or 3-point sharpshooter Julian Champagnie is likely to start in his place.
David Jones Garcia is questionable to play. Harrison Ingram and Stanley Umude are both out.
THE UNIFORMS
The Spurs will be in their Association Edition jerseys on Saturday.
