Flavor Flav is the new ‘official hype man’ of USA Olympic bobsled, skeleton teams

Flavor Flav plans to join the team in Milan-Cortina for the Olympics to “support his team and teammates,” the team said.

MILAN, Metropolitan City of Milan — Rapper Flavor Flav is returning to the Olympics as a sponsor and hype man ahead of the 2026 Winter Games.

After cheering for the USA women’s water polo team at the 2024 Summer Olympics, Flav switched to cheer on the U.S. bobsleigh and skeleton teams in Italy’s 2026 games.

“We are thrilled to welcome Flavor Flav as an official sponsor and hype man for USA Bobsled/Skeleton,” Aron McGiure, CEO of USABS, said in a press release. “It’s clear he has a genuine passion for sports and an authentic love for the USA team. Flavor Flav embodies the same grit, dedication and pride that define our athletes, and we’re excited to have him bring that excitement to our team and fans across the country.”

That genuine passion for the sport was highlighted in multiple posts to his social media Monday.

The “Unga Bunga Bunga” rapper toured the Olympic Park in Utah where he met with members of the teams and got to try out bobsledding and skeletoning himself.

In each video, he can be heard enthusiastically saying his catchphrase “yeah, boyeeee.” He even got to wear an official Team USA uniform for his run, where he got up to 68 mph while laying face down on a sled.

“The partnership is a blessing. It’s cooler than ‘Cool Runnings.’ It’s Coolest Runnings,” Flav said in a press release, referencing and riffing off the 1993 family comedy “Cool Runnings” where four Jamaican bobsledders dream of competing in the Winter Olympics despite never having seen snow.

He also surprised some of the USA Bobsled and Skeleton teams with tickets to Maroon 5 in Salt Lake City on Saturday.

Flav is one of the founding members of rap group Public Enemy, a 6-time Grammy nominee and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, and a television personality. Many know him for wearing a large clock around his neck, a symbol he says represents the importance and “power of time.”

The team said he plans to join the team in Milan-Cortina for the Olympics to “support his team and teammates,” like he previously had.
