SAN ANTONIO — Several western counties are getting hit with heavy constant downpours, leading to a extended Flood Watch Tuesday.

The KENS 5 Weather Team has issued a Weather Impact Alert Day for Tuesday, July 15 as the scattered thunderstorms continue with a potential for localized flooding.

At least one high water rescue was made on Highway 55 between Uvalde and Campwood.

A Flood Warning was issued for the Nueces River at Laguna until 11:15 p.m. Tuesday. Minor to moderate flooding is expected near 10 ft, which is considered the flood stage.

A Flash Flood Warning has also been extended for several cities including Uvalde, Edwards, Kinney, and Real until 8:30 a.m.

A Flood Watch remains in effect until Tuesday at 1 p.m. for Bexar County and most counties west and north of San Antonio including: Llano, Burnet, Williamson, Val Verde, Edwards, Real, Kerr, Bandera, Gillespie, Kendall, Blanco, Hays, Travis, Kinney, Uvalde, Medina, Bexar and Comal.

While isolated storms will be around San Antonio, the heaviest and most widespread will be between Uvalde and Kerr County. Residents should expect scattered rain and isolated heavy thunderstorms between Kerrville, Del Rio, Uvalde, and Eagle Pass.

Many roads in the western areas are currently closed due to the heavy rainfall including Uvalde. You can find updates here.

An additional 1″ – 4″ of rain will be possible through the early afternoon for isolated areas.

By the late afternoon hours, rain coverage will slow down. There may be spotty, isolated activity Tuesday evening.

In addition, several Flood Warnings are in effect for river basins where heavy rainfall over the past day had led to flash flooding.

Forecast update

Rain chances drop off Wednesday and Thursday giving the area a much needed break from the rainfall.

With high humidity and more sun, the heat will take over. Forecast highs are trending in the upper-90s into the weekend.

And with the added humidity, “feels-like” temperatures will range from 99 – 107 across the region through Sunday.

Chances for showers during the weekend may increase depending on the track of a new tropical storm in the Gulf later this week.

However, most updated model keeps this particular storm way to the east – closer to Louisiana.
