SAN ANTONIO — IMPACT DAYS: Saturday, July 5
Reason: Potential for locally heavy downpours, especially in the Hill Country and counties west of San Antonio.
The breakdown
A deadly and catastrophic flooding situation unfolded in the dark, early morning hours on Friday, as people were asleep in homes, RV’s and campsites along the Guadalupe River. The river rose more 26 feet between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. More than two dozens people have been confirmed killed from these floods.
The flooding threat continues across Central and South Texas Saturday morning as heavy rain continues to fall. A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Cibolo, McQueeney and parts of Seguin until 1 p.m. A Flash Flood Warning is also in effect for Bexar County and Comal County until 2 p.m. See more details below:
The flooding at Guadalupe River at Hunt reached the 2nd highest height on record, higher than the 1987 flood. “This is a very dangerous and life-threatening flood event along the river,” according to NWS.
