Floresville ISD Board of Trustees made this vote Monday to retain and recruit new teachers to support student learning.
SAN ANTONIO — The Floresville ISD Board of Trustees voted to move to a four day school week for the 2025 academic school year.
The vote happened Monday night and the district says they hope this keeps and attract quality teachers to support student learning.
Floresville ISD says students are going to be in school Monday through Thursday, with the exception of a few Fridays.
The district would give two weeks off for Christmas, and a week off for Thanksgiving as well as Spring Break.
Some days, like President’s Day, may also become a school day.
When kids are off on Friday, Floresville ISD says they have an after school provider to watch Pre-K through 5th grade students for free, regardless of family income.
Friday meals would also be provided at a designated location.
With questions on instruction time, Floresville ISD released a statement saying they’re already above the minimum amount needed by Texas Education Agency (TEA).
The district says they may make slight changes to their start and end times at their campuses to still meet this requirement.
These changes would go into effect in the fall.
The district says teacher and staff pay would not be affected by these changes.
