DALLAS — Legendary Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith’s son has decided to enter the 2026 NFL Draft.
EJ Smith, who is currently a running back at Texas A&M University, announced his decision on Instagram Monday morning.
Smith says in part, “I feel blessed to have grown alongside this game and thankful for every opportunity it has given me. I’m excited to declare for the 2026 NFL draft and continue my football journey at the next level.”
Smith also says his four years at Stanford shaped him both academically and athletically. And his time at Texas A&M has taught him perseverance and resilience.
“To the coaches and to my brothers I shared the field and locker room with, thank you for the memories along the way. The bonds we built and the lessons we learned together will stay with me forever,” Smith says.
The NFL draft begins in April.
