Former Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs signing with Green Bay Packers, sources say

Diggs will join his former Cowboys teammate Micah Parsons in green and gold.

DALLAS — Former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs will join the Green Bay Packers after being claimed off the waiver wire, sources confirmed to WFAA Cowboys Insider Ed Werder.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news of Diggs’ signing on Wednesday afternoon.

The move comes after Dallas released Diggs on Tuesday, just two years after signing a five-year, $97 million contract extension. Since the Packers claimed Diggs on the waiver wire, they’ll be on the hook for $472,000 he is owed for his Week 18 base salary, plus an additional payment of $58,823 should he suit up to play in the final week of the regular season, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

In 2021, he led the NFL in interceptions with 11 picks, earning himself All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors. The following season, the University of Alabama product – selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the No. 51 overall selection – posted three picks but was still selected to the 2022 Pro Bowl.

Diggs spent two months on the bench this season after he sustained a concussion in an accident at home, WFAA previously reported.

In joining the Packers, he’ll link back up with his good friend and former teammate Micah Parsons, who was traded to Green Bay in August. Parsons posted on X shortly after the news broke:

“We’re back.”
