Dynamic Prep’s Marcus Spears Jr. is ranked No. 1 in his class in Texas, according to 247Sports.

DALLAS — Marcus Spears Jr., the son of former Dallas Cowboys defensive end and current ESPN analyst Marcus Spears, has been ranked the nation’s top basketball prospect in the Class of 2027 by SportsCenter.

Spears Jr., a power forward at Dynamic Prep in Dallas, is rated a five-star recruit by 247Sports. He holds the No. 1 spot at his position and overall in Texas.

The 6-foot-8 forward has already received offers from several major programs, including Houston, Kentucky, Tennessee, USC and hometown SMU, according to 247Sports.

Athletic success runs deep in the Spears family. His father spent nine seasons in the NFL after starring at LSU. His mother, Aiysha, played basketball at LSU, where the two met, and later played in the WNBA. His older sister, Macaria, is a standout volleyball player who plays for the Texas Longhorns.

In a recent WFAA feature, Marcus and Aiysha Spears said their family’s foundation is built on faith and balance, stressing the importance of humility and perspective as their children pursue athletic careers.

For Spears Jr., that foundation could prove pivotal as he continues to rise as one of the nation’s most sought-after basketball recruits.
