DEVINE, Texas — A former Devine Volunteer Fire & Rescue chief who turned himself in last week amid allegations of sexual harassment, has voluntarily resigned.
Greg Atkinson was booked into the Medina County Jail last Thursday following outcry from a former employee of the Devine Fire & Rescue that prompted an investigation into alleged sexual harassment.
Medina County officials confirmed the investigation found some of the allegations to be true.
“He used his position and tried to obtain favors because of his position,” said Medina County Sheriff Randy Brown.
On Tuesday, Atkinson voluntarily resigned, saying it’s “in the best interest of the organization.”
Atkinson has been with the department for just over two years.
