Former La Pryor ISD superintendent arrested on injury to child charge, officials say

Following a grand jury indictment, former La Pryor ISD Superintendent William David Arevalo was arrested by the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office for injury to a child.

ZAVALA COUNTY, Texas — A former La Pryor Independent School District superintendent was arrested Wednesday following an investigation by the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, William David Arevalo was taken into custody May 27 on an outstanding arrest warrant tied to an investigation conducted while he was serving as superintendent of La Pryor ISD.

Authorities said Arevalo was arrested on a charge of injury to a child after the case was presented to a Zavala County grand jury, which returned a True Bill of Indictment.

The investigation was conducted by the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division as part of the agency’s Safe Kids Initiative, officials said.

The case will be prosecuted by the 293rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office in the 293rd Judicial District Court.
