Former NBA guard Arenas was throwing shade at the Spurs when hit with tech issues

Former NBA guard Gilbert Arenas boldly predicts a short Spurs postseason when he is suddenly silenced.

SAN ANTONIO — Former NBA guard Gilbert Arenas isn’t shy about voicing his opinion on the latest league developments.

And that is exactly what he did recently when he and his crew discussed the San Antonio Spurs and the looming playoffs.

During his “Gil’s Arena” show, he boldly proclaimed the Spurs would have a first-round exit, claiming it would be either Denver, Houston or Minnesota knocking out San Antonio.

As he gave reasons why the Spurs are not that good—claiming they are just a good regular season team and that neither Victor Wembanyama nor De’Aaron Fox is a go-to guy—his Wi-Fi connection weakened until it froze during his anti-Spurs rant.

This prompted his co-host, Nick Young, to sum up what many Spurs fans feel about Arenas’ opinion on San Antonio.

“Yeah, I’m glad he froze. He needed to shut the (expletive) up,” Young said.

Arenas’ thoughts on the Spurs are very premature.

Sure, the Spurs lack playoff experience, but it will come in time. How the West playoff bracket shakes out will be known in time. One cannot discount injuries, losing skids or other unknown factors that could help or hurt the Spurs’ playoff run.

Perhaps the NBA gods were letting Arenas know this kind of talk is better suited for after the Spurs’ playoff run is over.
