Former Rockets star arrested after finding man with underage sister, attorney says

“Please don’t believe everything you see on the internet,” he wrote in a post on X. He was taken into custody on Friday, according to the district attorney’s office.

RICHMOND, Texas — Former Houston Rockets player Patrick Beverley was arrested in Fort Bend County on a felony assault charge.

Officials with the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office confirm that Beverley was arrested on Friday on a charge of family violence assault – impeding breath/circulation.

His attorney sent a statement Friday night, saying Beverley found his minor sister alone with an 18-year-old man.

The full statement reads:

“Patrick Beverley has no criminal record. He cares deeply about his little sister – a young lady, a minor. Given that, when he unexpectedly found her alone in the home with an 18-year-old man in the middle of the night, he was understandably concerned, as any brother would be about his sister. However, we don’t believe what followed happened the way it’s been described and we look forward to the opportunity to address that in court.”

Beverley appeared to respond to the allegations on social media, writing “Please don’t believe everything you see on the internet. Hope all is well Luv❤️🙏🏾” on his account on X.

Police have not shared details from the investigation.

Bond in Beverley’s case was set at $40,000.

Beverley is represented by Letitia Quinones-Hollins of Quinones & Associates.

Beverley played for the Rockets for five seasons from 2012 through 2017. After Houston, he played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Milwaukee Bucks.
