The former mayor says he won’t make a final decision until after the November election.
SAN ANTONIO — The former mayor of San Antonio could be eyeing a new role in Bexar County.
Ron Nirenberg confirmed to KENS 5 he’s “considering” a run for judge.
But he says he won’t make a final decision until after the November election.
The move could set up a March Democratic primary showdown with current Judge Peter Sakai, who’s seeking a second term.
Sakai said on social media, “At one point Ron’s bags were packed for DC. At one point he was running for Governor, then Senator. […] It’s clear Ron never found the greener pastures he dreamed of.”
Sakai says he’s focused on job creation, public safety and helping working families while Nirenberg weighs his next move.
