Former Schertz police officer accused of sexual assault, officials say

Former Schertz police officer Albert De La Torre, dismissed last month, now faces sexual assault charges.

SCHERTZ, Texas — This morning, a former Schertz police officer is now in the Guadalupe County jail facing a sexual assault charge.

Albert De La Torre was a Schertz police officer for five years. He was fired this past month, and just yesterday Guadalupe County Sheriff’s deputies arrested him on the sexual assault charge.

The Schertz Police Department says he was a K-9 officer hired in September 2020.

He was fired four days after the department initiated a sexual assault and official oppression report on Nov. 14.

The report named him as a suspect, and Cibolo PD says he was fired because of a “sustained complaint of truthfulness.”

This means there was reportedly enough evidence to prove that De La Torre was untruthful or dishonest.

The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office arrested him during a high-risk traffic stop yesterday.

He was tracked down just before noon in the 500 block of Hinge Falls in Cibolo.

As of Thursday morning, De La Torre is still at the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office. His bond has not been set yet.
