Vince Offer “ShamWow” Shlomi has filed to run for the Texas District 31 U.S. Representative seat.
FORT HOOD, Texas — Vince Offer Shlomi, better known as the “ShamWow Guy,” has filed to run for United States Congress as a representative from Texas.
According to the Republican Party of Texas primary filing records, Shlomi is pursuing the seat for U.S. House District 31, which covers parts of Central Texas including Temple, much of the Fort Hood area, Burnet, Georgetown, Gatesville and more.
Republican Rep. John Carter has held the seat since 2003, representing about 868,000 Texans in the district, according to U.S. Census data. He won re-election in 2024, accruing 64% of the vote to defeat Democrat Stuart Whitlow in the general election.
If his application is accepted by the party at the state level, Shlomi – who is listed on the ballot application form as Offer Vince “ShamWow” Shlomi – will run against Carter as well as other challengers Raymond Hamden, Ryan Guillen, David L. Berry, Kevin Sparks and Ed Wald in the Republican primary.
Known by many for his career as an enthusiastic infomercial spokesperson where he advertised products like the ShamWow and the Slap Chop, Shlomi, 61, has been active on social media in the years since, posting reflections on his advertising career, comedy sketches and embracing a “woke-buster” persona railing against DEI initiatives and cancel culture.
Shlomi was arrested on a charge of battery in Miami-Dade County, Florida on Feb. 9, 2009, online records show. The case was closed less than a month later.
The 2026 Texas primaries will be held on March 3.
