Fort Hood soldier convicted of shooting and killing mother of his child

A jury found Nakealon Keunte Mosley guilty of killing fellow soldier Francine Martinez in 2021.

FORT HOOD, Texas — A Fort Hood soldier has been convicted of shooting and killing a fellow soldier in 2021, according to Bell County court records.

Records show Nakealon Keunte Mosley was found guilty of murder on July 21, 2025.

Mosley was accused of shooting and killing Sgt. Francine Martinez, who was also reportedly the mother of his child, at a Killeen nightclub in 2021.

According to an affidavit, Mosley reportedly got into a verbal argument with Martinez, who got into her vehicle and left the scene. Mosley reportedly followed her, shooting at her car multiple times, with one of the bullets hitting her in the head. The affidavit stated Martinez died days later.

A stay in the case was issued in February 2025 by the 3rd Court of Appeals due to debate on whether or not an “unknown party” the state alleged was also part of the crime had been properly identified to the jury. The stay was lifted in May, and the trial resumed on July 21.

A sentencing hearing for Mosley is scheduled to be held on Sept. 9.
