Fort Worth teen shot and killed while celebrating his birthday, 2 others injured, police said

A Fort Worth teen was killed after a shooting broke out that injured two other people.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A Fort Worth teen was shot and killed while celebrating his 19th birthday overnight Sunday, police said. 

Officers responded to a shooting call around 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 3700 block of North Houston Street, Fort Worth police said in a press release. When police arrived, they found two shooting victims on the scene, the release states. 

One victim, later identified as 19-year-old Anthony Rangel, was shot in the torso and forearm and later pronounced dead at the hospital, police said. He was an innocent bystander trying to celebrate his 18th birthday, according to a GoFundMe created by the family of Rangel’s girlfriend

“He had dreams, ambition, and a heart full of love for those around him. His family, friends, and especially my daughter Tierra are shattered by his loss,” the GoFundMe states.

The second victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive his injuries, the release states. A third shooting victim was transported to a hospital in a private vehicle and is expected to survive, police said. 

Detectives found that there was a party at a home where two females got into an argument over one of the shooting victims, the release states. Unknown suspects arrived on the scene and got involved in a physical altercation with one of the shooting victims, police said. The suspect produced a handgun and fired multiple shots, officials said. 

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, police said. Police are investigating the incident and no one has been arrested.
