SAN ANTONIO — 17 days after launching a hunger strike, the founder of the Uvalde Foundation For Kids was hospitalized for heart concerns but vows the protest will continue.

Founder Daniel Chapin started the hunger strike in March demanding the removal of several Uvalde police officers who responded to the Robb Elementary shooting in May 2022.

Chapin said he will continue the hunger strike until Uvalde officials take action and discipline the officers.

According to a statement from the foundation they have updated city and police officials on the strike but have received not any communication.

The foundation was formed in response to the Robb Elementary mass shooting where officers waited approximately 77 minutes to engage the shooter.
