SEATTLE — Four Tesla Cybertrucks caught fire in Seattle’s SODO neighborhood late Sunday night, according to the Seattle Fire Department (SFD).
The cars were in a Tesla storage lot on 4th Avenue South near South Spokane Street.
The fire broke out just after 11 p.m. on Sunday. By 1 a.m. Monday morning, SFD extinguished the fire, which was limited to four Cybertrucks.
The damaged vehicles were hauled away and the SFD Energy Response team arrived on the scene to mitigate fire hazards from the damaged vehicles’ lithium-ion batteries, which pose an ignition risk if they are damaged.
Fire crews are investigating the cause of the fire.
Tesla dealerships and cars have been targeted across the country related to backlash over DOGE head Elon Musk’s position with the federal government. Last week, a Tesla dealership in Tigard, Ore., was hit with gunfire. The dealership itself, along with several vehicles, was damaged.
