Four Dogs for the New Year | Forgotten Friends

We have featured all four of these dogs over the last few years, but for whatever reason, their person has not yet found them… yet.

SAN ANTONIO — Our “Forgotten Friends” series showcases a dog or cat each week that has spent a lengthy time at an area shelter, just waiting for someone to notice them and bring them home to love.

This week on Forgotten Friends we are sharing a few dogs who are still waiting for their forever homes. We have featured all four of them over the last few years, but for whatever reason, their person has not yet found them… yet. We hope by shining the spotlight on them once more, they all will have homes for the new year!

BRINDLE  🎆 🥂🍾

Brindle is a four-year-old Catahoula mix who was surrendered to Kerr County Animal Services over a year ago, simply because his owner didn’t want him or his siblings anymore. He loves to play and also enjoys being petted. He is also super friendly and is current on all of his vaccinations and neutered.

He’d do best in an active home with no small kids. The shelter tells us he loves playing with his ball, a frisbee or really anything for hours. Brindle does not really do well with other dogs right now, but might with a little training and a whole lot of love. Also due to his high energy level, it’s probably best that he not live with cats.

Do you have room in your heart and your home for Brindle and think he’d be a good fit for you? Contact KCAS at (830) 257-3100 or email them at animalcontrol@co.kerr.tx.us.

HUNTER  🎆 🥂🍾

Hunter was left tied to a mailbox when his family moved, leaving him behind alone and forgotten. That is until Kerrville Pets Alive stepped up and saved him from the euthanasia list at the county shelter after they determined that he was a super quick-learner and could be trained to be the best boy ever.

He is a tricolor shepherd mix who is about two and half years old. He currently weighs about 56 pounds and is healthy, athletic and very handsome. Hunter has learned how to sit or stand beside his caregiver and wait for attention. He loves being petted and is very loving. He is current on all of his shots and has also been neutered.

KPA is open seven days a week by appointment – email info@kerrvillepetsalive.org or call (713) 855.6291. You can also fill out an adoption application on their website.

PETEY 🎆 🥂🍾

Petey was brought to the Converse Animal Shelter in 2020 as a stray puppy. He is about four and a half years old and has spent his whole life at the shelter just waiting for someone to choose him to bring home and love. He is a beautiful sand color with incredibly soulful eyes and adorable, expressive ears.

He might act a little reserved when he first meets you, but once he is comfortable, his true personality shines through.

Petey would be a great option for someone who has a quiet life and just wants a faithful companion to chill and watch Netflix with them. He needs to be your only pet so he can have your undivided attention.

Visit the Converse Animal Shelter at 9634 Schaefer Road in Converse, 78109. You can also email them at Casipets@sbcglobal.net or visit their website at https://www.mynewbestfriend.org/.

LULU 🎆 🥂🍾

Lulu is a 4-year-old Pit mix named Lulu that was surrendered to the Converse Animal Shelter back in 2022 because her owner suffered from allergies. She loves to be petted and is very food-motivated. And she loves to play in the water!

She gets along great with most other dogs but is a bit picky about exactly which ones. She’s okay with cats too. She’d do great in a home with older kids that can keep her busy.

All of these dogs would love to have a home of the very own for the new year! What are you waiting for?

For whoever adopts Brindle, Hunter, Petey or Lulu, Lucy’s Doggy Daycare & Spa will be lending a paw by offering them a free “Glow Up” Day at the Spa, which includes a massage therapy bath and Pawdicure. One of Lucy’s most cherished core values is to continue Lucy’s legacy of giving back to pups in need, as Lucy herself was a rescue!

Remember when you adopt a shelter pet, you save two lives… the one you bring home with you and the one that now will be saved because the shelter has more room.
