Fourth of July celebrations in and around San Antonio

San Antonio area hosts Fourth of July events with parades, fireworks, and family activities.

SAN ANTONIO — It’s that time of year again where San Antonio and surrounding areas prepare for the big Fourth of July celebrations, parades and fireworks. 

All across south-central Texas cities and organizations are hosting an array of activities for families to mark Independence Day. KENS 5 has compiled a list of celebrations, parades and firework shows happening in the Alamo City area. 

San Antonio

The City of San Antonio’s Official Fourth of July Celebration at Woodlawn Lake Park will kickoff on Friday, July 4 at 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. The free family-friendly event offers all day activities, food, carnival rides and games. 

The Stars & Stripes Salute at the Alamo is free to the public, starting their festivities at 9 a.m. through 4 p.m., followed by live music at 7 p.m. and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Attendees can also enjoy food trucks and music from the U.S. Air Force Band of the West. 

Six Flags Fiesta Texas will be hosting their Star-Spangled Nights, “the city’s largest and most immersive Fourth of July fireworks celebration.” The event will be two nights, beginning Friday, July 4 at 9:15 p.m. Organizers say the fireworks will be launched from 30 unique firing locations to give audiences a panoramic display. 

The fun continues at Six Flags on Saturday, July 5 at 9:15 p.m., inside Lone Star Lil’s Amphitheater. Attendees will be able to see the fireworks set to music. Three different viewing packages will be offered to guests. 

Seguin 

Seguin is marking the holiday with multi-day celebrations including their Patriotic Concert on Sunday, July 29 at Central Park beginning at 7 p.m.  

On Thursday, July 3 they will host their Fireworks Fiesta at Max Starcke Park. The night sky is scheduled to light up at 9:30 p.m. City officials say the best views will be visible from Max Starcke Park East (600 River Dr. East) and the Seguin Events Complex. Then on Friday they will have a flag raising ceremony at 9 a.m. in Central Park, followed later by the “Biggest Small-Town 4th of July Parade in Texas.” The floats will roll out at 10 a.m. 

Saturday, July 5 brings their Freedom Fiesta, accompanied by live performances, food, and cold beer. The festivities start at 6 p.m. capping off at 11 p.m.
