DQ restaurants across Texas are giving away free Hungr-Busters on March 2 to celebrate Texas Independence Day.
SAN ANTONIO — Everything’s bigger in Texas — including the celebrations.
Texas Independence Day is March 2, marking nearly 190 years since the Lone Star State declared its independence from Mexico in 1836. And this year, DQ restaurants across Texas are honoring the historic day with a very Texas-sized thank you: a free Hungr-Buster.
For one day only, Monday, March 2, fans can score a FREE Hungr-Buster with a $2 minimum purchase, but you’ll need the DQ app to claim it.
The Hungr-Buster isn’t just any burger. It’s a Texas original, served exclusively at DQ restaurants in Texas. The fan-favorite features a juicy beef patty topped with crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, purple onions, tangy pickles and classic yellow mustard, a simple, no-frills burger that’s become a staple for generations.
“There is no doubt that Texas Independence Day is a special moment in our state’s history,” said Lou Romanus, CEO of the Texas Dairy Queen Operators’ Council. “The Hungr-Buster is a Texas tradition, and we can’t think of a better way to honor this day than by sharing this iconic burger with our fans on the house.”
To take advantage of the deal, customers can download the DQ app, select the Texas Independence Day offer and redeem it in-store or at the drive-thru.
And if you’re feeling festive, why stop at savory? March’s Blizzard of the Month, the Mint OREO Cookie Blizzard, blends DQ’s signature soft serve with OREO cookie pieces and cool mint flavor, making it the perfect sweet finish to your Lone Star feast.
For more than 78 years, DQ restaurants in Texas have served as hometown gathering spots — and on March 2, they’re inviting Texans to celebrate history the way we know best: with good food and a little state pride.
