The Texas mascot has been banned in recent weeks at Mercedes-Benz Stadium due to “space limitations.”
ARLINGTON, Texas — Texas will play in the CFP semifinals after beating the Arizona State Sun Devils in the Peach Bowl.
The semifinal matchup will be played in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
Over the past month or so, Bevo has been barred twice from attending the UT’s games – albeit the same venue (Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta), citing space concerns. So, that begged the question, will Bevo be allowed to attend the CFP semifinal game after being banned from the SEC Championship and CFP quarterfinal?
Is Bevo allowed at AT&T Stadium for CFP semifinal game?
The short answer: It appears so.
The Texas football team on Friday posted that Bevo is “headed for Arlington,” with a graphic featuring comically large font that declared Bevo “FREE.”
This isn’t a huge surprise: Every time Texas has played at AT&T Stadium, including the UCLA game in 2014 and a pair of Big 12 Championship Game appearances, Bevo was allowed inside Jerry World.
A spokesperson for the Cotton Bowl Classic initially said Bevo’s ticket to the game would “be evaluated and determined once all logistics surrounding our game is finalized,” the spokesperson told WFAA.
Now it appears those plans have been made final: Texas’ real-life longhorn will be there.
